Optoma launches smart slim and slick DC455 visualiser

Teaching staff, presenters and students will now be able to share work with a larger audience thanks to a new portable, slim and lightweight document camera launched by award-winning display specialists, Optoma.

Weighing a mere 550g and measuring just 19 x 2.5 x 8cm, the new DC455 is so small and compact it fits easily into a bag or backpack. The fully collapsible design makes it easy to store, use and move between rooms.

Textbooks, maps, detailed diagrams and 3D objects can all be displayed to the whole class, without having to reposition the camera, thanks to the A4 shooting area. And its fold down arm makes adjustment and precise positioning simple and effective.

Bob Johnson, Product Manager at Optoma EMEA, commented: “The new DC455 is more portable than ever before with a small and compact chassis and clever folding arm design which makes it easy for teaching staff to store in a classroom or carry between rooms.”

The DC455 boasts an output resolution of up to Full HD 1080p for stunning image quality that will capture the attention of any class. Its 13-megapixel camera, 8x digital zoom and up to 30 frames-per-second video is able to show incredible detail on objects often not visible to the human eye.

Dual VGA and HDMI inputs and outputs make presentations truly interactive and give connectivity to a PC or laptop as well as a projector. Smart DC software supplied with the DC455, allows teachers to annotate on the image captured by the visualiser and capture their lessons as video clips. They can easily switch between the image from the visualiser to external content held on the PC, such as PowerPoint, PDF digital images and webpages.

Suitable for classrooms, lecture theatres, boardrooms and auditoriums, the DC455 features a handy rotating camera lens. This allows the presenter to place the item being captured the same way up as the image that is projected. Users can simply rotate the lens to change the orientation or rotate the image in using the SMART DC software.

It has an excellent automatic focus. Manual focus is also available when additional critical detail is needed. Images can be saved at 0.8 MP, 2MP, 5MP, and 13MP resolutions to an SD card and up to 128MB can be saved to the DC455’s on-board memory.

The DC455 can be controlled either via the remote control or the base of the unit and has eco-friendly LED lighting built into the head with three brightness settings for additional lighting if needed.
