Optoma Expands Digital Signage Offering

With New All-in-one 22” Touch Screen LCD Display

London, 4th April 2011: Projector specialist Optoma, having successfully entered the digital signage market in 2009 with the launch of the SignShow D5000 high definition media player and the SignShow 7POP, have now launched a new 22" LCD display for use in digital signage applications. The display is available in two versions – a touchscreen variant (OP1022WTDS) with capacitive technology from 3M - and a nontouch model (OP1022WDS).

Both models have panels that are approximately 65mm deep and feature Optoma’s SignShow D5000 HD media player and powerful but easy-to-use software which is included free of charge. Display specifications include resolution of 1680 x 1050 (16:10), brightness of 300cd/m², a response time of 20ms and viewing angles of 178° C.

Seamless hardware and software integration provides operational reliability for both models and enables an engineer to install them quickly with far fewer cables. Both models have inputs for USB 2.0 (two), RS232 and an auxiliary source device (TV tuner) and come included with Optoma’s SignShow InfoSAP Creator (LAN) and InfoSAP Admin (WAN) software for Windows so that users can remotely design, preview, publish and manage the scheduling of digital signage content and messaging.

Users can customise the screen layout and scheduled delivery, allowing users to show a combination of video, graphics, time, message tickers and live database feeds or RSS feeds at the same time. The highly practical digital signage solution makes it easy to create content quickly and simply, allowing users to focus time elsewhere rather than signage configuration. The “Touch Version” also comes with InfoSAP Touch as standard.

Optoma quality and reliability are built into our integrated, affordable touch and none touch monitors. The 22" OP1022WT open frame touch monitors are designed, developed and built to provide the ideal solutions for system integrators and VARs. 22" open frame touch monitors can be used in any location that requires the panel to be built into a kiosk type application and is an exciting medium for use in point-of-sale, retail outlets, supermarkets or any organisation providing dynamic or interactive information or entertainment in a simple solution.

The “Digital out-of-home (DOOH) advertising revenues in Western Europe will quadruple over the next five years from Euro160m in 2007 to Euro626m by 2012.”* Bob Johnson, Product Manager of Optoma Digital Signage Division comments: “Optoma has recognised the potential of this market and through the development of our range of high specification, yet cost-effective digital signage solutions we can enable installers to take full advantage of this growing demand.”

The displays, which are fanless, use less than 1W in standby. Both models come with a two-year warranty and are now available from Optoma. Price and availability details are available upon request.
