Most movies are shot at 24 frames per second. To preserve the purity of the original image the HD23 can accept High Definition sources at 24 frames per second and so to display movies exactly as the director intended.

Into the light...

The staggering brightness of the HD23 enables two exciting prospects:
Bring your projector out of the dark – Ultra Brightness means the HD23 can be used in environments where the light is not completely controlled, for a lights-on, full HD 1080p Home Cinema experience. Bigger is better – Ultra brightness means your screen can be huge. The HD23 can deliver SMPTE standard brightness† on screen sizes of up to nearly 5m - making it suitable for small auditoriums or events with a large audience.

BrilliantColor™

The HD23 incorporates BrilliantColor™ multi-colour processing technology to bring stunning, vibrant colour to your screen. Using six separate primary and secondary colours to produce a new level of colour performance and control; BrilliantColor™ increases colour brightness by up to 50% over other technologies to create accurate true to life images.
† Calculated with the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers recommendations of a minimum image brightness of 16 Foot Lamberts. Data used: 2500 Lumens flat white field, 16:9 screen diagonal with a gain of 1.0

“Not only does the HD23 deliver the best blacks, it serves up the brightest, cleanest whites, too. That it pulls that off courtesy of a compact and anonymous looking chassis is impressive.”

“It's the only projector here that works best using a cinema or movie oriented preset mode and it makes the HD23 very easy to set up.”

A very nice projector, with good image detail and white balance. […] This Optoma projector is a really good choice if you refuse to draw the curtains or turn of the light before turning on your projector : it delivers a very bright image.

Connections

The projector is only part of the story when trying to achieve the best picture available. The signal from your set top box, media player or computer is where the story starts.

To achieve the best quality picture, we recommend matching the output resolution from your device to the resolution of your projector, if you have an HD set top box then an HD projector would be the best match, likewise if you have SCART then a SCART compatible projector would suit you fine. Remember it may be worth choosing a better resolution projector if you are considering an upgrade to HD TV or Blu-Ray in the near future.

So what’s the best quality output?

Excellent Choice for Home Theatre Projection and t
13/08/2012
Spinster, India
I recently bought a HD 23 projector after my existing acer PD1101 gone bad. While buying Optoma HD 23, I did not believe it will make a huge difference to my viewing. But after I powered it on at my residence during day time, I could not believe my eyes. Crystal clear brightness with vivid colors without distortion or blur. In India, the sunlight is in abundance and no way you can put curtains and close it all the time since it will make the room claustrophobic and since I am using a projector instead of a TV I can't keep the curtains all the time. This project can be bought without a second thought if you are looking for a professional projector inside your house for replacing your stupid TVs.
