"We’ve been in direct contact with Optoma before the project even began and since then we have had the best support from them. We are very happy with the end result - using Optoma projectors for the exhibition and events which continue and portray the great legacy of Zdzisław Beksiński in an innovative way.”

The Challenge

Known for the success of capturing the unsettling underside of human consciousness, the Beksiński museum in Sanok, Poland wanted to portray Beksiński’s artistic stories in a unique and visionary manner.

All of Beksiński’s paintings are untitled to avoid any metaphorical interpretation of his paintings. As an artist, Beksiński was fascinated with death, decay abstractionism and Eastern mysticism and it was a fundamental requirement that his work was portrayed in the most life-like way with bold blacks and crisp, clean whites to depict every tiny detail of his magnificent work.

The Installation company, AV.Next wanted to source the best projection solution to showcase Beksinski’s artwork.

The Solution

The Optoma EH415ST was selected as the best solution for the Beksiński display and a total of six projectors were installed. This Full HD 1080p projector offers stunning image performance from a short distance. It also boasts a brightness rating of 3,500 ANSI lumens - ideal for this installation as there is no need to dim the lights.

The projector can be managed and monitored remotely with Crestron RoomView®, Telnet, Extron IP Link, AMX and PJ-Link, which allows almost all aspects of the EH415ST to be controlled across a network.

The EH415ST’s bold colours, brightness level and inputs fit perfectly with expectations. Beksiński’s work is portrayed in a bold, vibrant and modern form featuring multiple displays. His work spreads across three different screens which create a curved effect, making the entire experience life-like and fascinating.

The biggest advantage for the installation was the projector’s throw ratio which enabled a 100-inch image from just over a metre away. This provided fantastic viewing from all angles through the created curved effect across multiple screens.

The Results

The Beksinski museum had great aspirations to portray the incredible work of Beksinski in the most flattering, bold, creative way possible.

With help from installation company AV.Next and the Optoma EH415ST projectors, the final result was a huge success. Beksinski’s work is displayed beautifully with fantastic projected colours. The deep, dark blacks and crisp, bright whites make his pieces appear ultra-detailed and breath-taking to viewers in the museum.

Marcin Barycki, a board member of the Beksinski Foundation stated: “We’ve been in direct contact with Optoma before the project even began and since then we have had the best support from them. We are very happy with the end result - using Optoma projectors for the exhibition and events which continue and portray the great legacy of Zdzisław Beksiński in an innovative way.”
