Returning for its second year, the New Year projection spectacle from the workshop of Arina Moroz sold out a month before the premiere. This time, the immersive performance of Anderson’s Fairy Tales took place in the Zaryadye Concert Hall.
For the dynamic scenery that would allow the audience to travel to fabulous times and places, incredibly bright projectors that would not get lost in stage lighting, and look good with an LED screen mounted on the stage, were needed.
Another requirement was the speed and flexibility of the installation, as the play would be shown over the New Year holidays, the schedule of performances in the Concert Hall were very tight, allocating little time for the installation.
A range of Optoma projectors were used to create multimedia decorations and an unusual, festive atmosphere in the lobby and main hall where the performance takes place.
"Anderson's Tales is a unique projection show and sophisticated visual special effects. We turned to Optoma as a reliable projection partner.
Optoma projectors were used in last year's show at the Museum of Moscow. We were pleased with the reliability and brightness of the equipment, which worked flawlessly throughout the New Year holidays." - Arina Moroz, project manager.
The Snow Queen met the guests in the lobby, sparkling in the rays of the sun and ice. The mapping was implemented using the EH460ST short-focus projector, mounted and masked on the ceiling of the room.
Using the professional laser projector ZH506 and the powerful WU515T, it was possible to create an unusual effect of ice on the walls of the Zaryadye Concert Hall.
"This performance has a lot of modern technologies. But my task was just that you did not notice it!
It was important for us that instead of projectors, LED screens, computer graphics, you saw a fairytale forest, northern lights, falling snow - Magic!" - Ekaterina Karnaukhova, multimedia artist.
For the first time in the Zaryadye Concert Hall, an immersive performance was held
the motives of Andersen's favourite children's tales
Even before the performance began, the magic forest grew in front of the entrance reaching all the way to the main hall; you could hear trees singing, converse with your favourite heroes, find out what's at the bottom of the Swineherd Pot, put on Walking Boots, try on the Storyteller's hat, and see your reflection in Magic Mirror.
"Sophisticated scenery and projectors allow you to turn the auditorium into a snow-covered city, now into a fairy forest, or into the palace of the Snow Queen in a few seconds. But during the performance you do not notice these nuances. You find yourself in the fairytale." - Kommersant FM Radio Station.
The unique multifunctional venue Zaryadye allowed the performance to be brought out of the auditorium. There is no border between the audience and the Tale, because the theatre is magic!
