Luuxx Home Automation was commissioned to install a complete house system, part of which included a dedicated home cinema.
The homeowner of the new build, nestled in the Highlands of Scotland, explained that it was an open plan house, and liked the idea of using the room as a ‘breakaway space’.
The Leeds-based AV experts installed an Optoma UHD65 4K UHD projector, together with a Projecta 4K 98inch velvet edged fixed screen.
Michael Glarvey from Luuxx Home Automation said: “We wanted to create a sophisticated family home cinema that was in keeping with the rest of the home.
“We have used Optoma several times before for high-specification cinema rooms and have always found them to be good quality.
“We specified the UHD65 because it provided the five-star 4K UHD image while being the best value for money.”
With the full 8.3 million on-screen pixels, the UHD65 meets the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) requirements for 4K UHD and complies with the CTA High Dynamic Range (HDR) compatible display standards.
It has sophisticated PureMotion frame-interpolation technology. This advanced processing eliminates motion blur or image judder, even in high-speed action films or fast-paced sports.
An RGBRGB colour wheel provides accurate, true to life colour, which together with the projectors sleek black casing and 1,200,000:1 contrast ratio make the projector perfect for dedicated home cinemas.
Set-up is simple with vertical lens shift and a host of connection options such as two HDMI ports and Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) for compatible phones and tablets.
The UHD65 can also be turned into a smart projector by connecting an HDMI dongle like the Google Chromecast™ or Amazon Fire TV to access popular media services and stream TV shows, films and video clips, play games and share photos on the big screen.
A 7.1.4 speaker system comprising of 7.1 Dali home cinema speakers and four Triad Atmos Channels, were installed to provide the most exceptional audio quality.
Completing the home cinema was a Denon Dolby Atmos AV Receiver, Blu-ray UHD player, HD Anywhere video matrix, and a Roku Box. In addition to Control 4’s on-screen display, remote, lighting and Face4 for Control4 faceplates.
Michael added: “We also chose the projector as PJLink is built into the projector, allowing us to remotely control the projector, and monitor the lamp life and order a new lens in time.”
The whole house system installation was completed in just three days.
Michael said: “The customer could not wait to use their new home cinema – the seats have yet to arrive, but this didn’t stop them setting up camp with blankets and pillows on the floor for a movie marathon.”
“I’ll be recommending the UHD65 into more home cinema installations.”
