Free Software Download Makes the Optoma HD65, HD700X and GT7000 3D Compatible with the Award Winning Optoma 3D-XL

London, June 2011 – Optoma today announced the immediate availability of a free firmware download that will allow all owners of the HD65, HD700X and GT7000 to upgrade their home cinema projectors to full 3D compatibility with the award winning Optoma 3D-XL Projector Adapter.

The resounding success of the Optoma 3D-XL Projector Adapter has led to the recent announcement of the award for “Best Accessory 2011” from the prestigious Home Cinema Choice magazine. In making the award the judges said: a £280 magic box that works in tandem with a 3D-ready DLP projector to bring three-dimensional fun to your viewing room at a size no TV can match”.

The world’s first 3D projector adapter, the 3D-XL simply connects between a 3D source and any 3D Ready DLP® projector for a big screen 3D experience at home. The projector adapter is compatible with 3D broadcast signals such as Sky 3D, 3D Blu-ray players and 3D games from the Sony® PS3 and Xbox. Featuring 2 x HDMI 1.4a connections, the 3D-XL allows two separate sources to be connected to it simultaneously.

Justin Halls, Head of Product Management at Optoma Europe commented, “The 3D-XL has been an enormous success so it makes sense to make this technology available to our huge base of HD65, HD700X and GT7000 owners. We wanted to ensure that access to 3D images from the likes of Sky, Sony® PS3 and Xbox is available to as many of our customers as possible.  At Optoma, we believe that the best way to watch 3D is on the biggest screen possible and with a projector such as the HD65 and with 3D-XL technology this mean huge images, potentially greater than 100” are possible.”

The download and installation instructions are available now from the Optoma website here: www.optoma.co.uk/3dhd65. Please check the website for full details.
