Optoma UK expands LED lighting business

Optoma UK has expanded its LED Lighting business with the appointment of two new Regional Sales Managers, Ian McNeill and Daniel Holden (pictured L-R).

Nick Price, Optoma’s Territory Manager, said: “We are delighted Ian and Daniel have joined the team at Optoma to grow our LED lighting business.

“LED lighting was a logical progression for Optoma, which has been producing award-winning LED projectors for numerous years. We have been established in the UK for almost two decades and have a strong infrastructure.  I am confident Ian and Daniel will bring enthusiasm and a fresh approach to the lighting industry to make a positive impact on the business.”

Optoma produces a dedicated range of LED lighting panels including three colour temperatures (warm light, natural light and cool white).  These are designed to enable organisations to easily replace old fluorescent lighting technology.  Swapping from fluorescent lighting to LED produces better quality lighting and significantly reduces energy consumption.

Daniel Holden

After graduating from Loughborough with an Economics Degree, Daniel started his career as a graduate trainee for an electrical wholesaler.  He remained in the industry, specialising in lighting, most recently with JCC as LED Project Manager and prior to this as Senior Project Engineer at Concord Lighting.

Daniel said: “The lighting industry saw very little change in almost six decades with most lights during this time fitted with filament lamps and fluorescent tube technology dating from the pre-war period.  There has been an all too slow progression in energy conscious lighting.  But in the last five years there has been a huge sea change reflecting the importance of LED to the lighting world.

“As a consequence, there is a lot of cheap lighting being manufactured.  I have joined Optoma because I know the products are of a high quality and will last.  With the flexibility in the sizes and design, and with creativity in lighting design, they can create a fantastic feature in an office or public space.  I am really excited to be able to get out and show these to customers across the country.”

Daniel lives in Worcestershire.  Outside work, he is interested in boxing, rugby and classic cars, and has a project to restore a Triumph Spitfire.

Ian McNeill

Now living in Leicestershire, Ian moved from his native Zimbabwe 12 years ago.  He completed his apprenticeship and became a qualified electrician before training to be a lighting engineer with a LIF Lighting Design qualification.  Most recently he was a Lighting Sales Executive for Collingwood Lighting and a Sales Engineer with Litelite, where he created lighting designs and conducted lighting surveys.  He also produced energy reports for LED lighting which showed the return on investment these panels bring.

Ian said: “I am looking forward to this new challenge.  LED lighting is absolutely the way forward because of cost-saving, energy efficiency and aesthetics.  Optoma’s low profile panels are less than 1cm deep and can link to lighting controls such as occupancy sensing and dimming.”

Ian enjoys the great outdoors, particularly trout fishing.

Daniel will be covering the western half of the UK including Wales, western Scotland, Northern Ireland and western England including Birmingham.  Ian’s territory will be the eastern half of the country from Coventry to the eastern coastline and the North East.  Southern England will be covered by Territory Manager, Nick Price.

In addition to the range of sizes and shades in lighting panels, the various light output options can illuminate rooms with a higher ceiling height and can reduce the number of fittings needed in a room. Optoma also supplies optional dimming and plug-in emergency kits.
