New portable projectors unveiled for schools

London, 28 February 2014: Two new portable projectors, designed specifically for schools and educational institutions, have been unveiled by award-winning projector specialists, Optoma.

The new X316-EDU and W316-EDU projectors provide a bright projection for the classroom and are ‘child’s play’ to set up.  They can be easily connected via a HDMI cable for digital audio and video, giving a clear projected image with sound.  And to add extra peace of mind to schools, Optoma supplies the projectors with a 3-year on-site warranty and 3-year lamp warranty.

Justin Halls, Head of Product Management at Optoma, commented: “We know how important it is for schools to have a reliable projector that needs minimal maintenance. The on-site warranty gives that extra piece of mind and means the projector will be replaced in the unlikely event it is found to be faulty.  In addition, Optoma’s dedicated UK-based helpline will provide customer support to answer questions and queries on projectors.”

Weighing only 2.35kg, these lightweight and portable projectors have energy saving features and a lamp life of up to 10,000 hours, which contribute to a low overall cost of ownership.

The projectors have built in speakers, full 3D technology and optional wireless capabilities allowing teachers to present wirelessly from a PC or mobile device with ease. They can be installed, fit perfectly on a standard laptop trolley or can be taken on the move in their handy carry bag.  The Kensington Lock Port enables schools to attach a lock for added security.

They are installed with DLP® (Digital Light Processing) technology, pioneered by Texas Instruments.  This uses mirrors to produce high quality images and ensures the projectors do not suffer colour degradation over time, as sometimes experienced in other projector technologies. It also means the projectors need less maintenance as there are no filters to remove and clean.

*Native resolution is the number of physical pixels in a display device. For example, an XGA display has a native resolution of 1024 physical pixels of resolution horizontally and 768 pixels vertically, giving a total of 786,432 pixels.  The higher the total pixels, the better the image quality projected.
